Experience:
Mr. Wong began his career in Hong Kong as Operations Manager for various Hotels and the Hong Kong Tourist Association. - While at the Sheraton Hong Kong Hotel Lawrence Wong's responsibilities grew from Guest Relations Manager to Account Executive in the Sales & Marketing Department managing sales for Sheraton's top 100 Corporate accounts; For UTELL INTERNATIONAL (Global Reservation System - Hong Kong), Lawrence was positioned as General Manager, in charge of overall sales and marketing as well as day to day operations; As Business Development Manager for J.W. Marriott Hotel, Lawrence created avenues to promote the newly established Marriott. His areas of expertise included all arrangements for Corporate Travel and Incentive Conferences, Meetings and Seminars.
In North America:
After Lawrence Wong moved to North America, he quickly established his leadership skills with New Century Travel in Toronto, Canada. He became Vice President of New Century Travel where he developed diverse ethnic travel strategies and expanded the business from revenues of three million dollars to over twelve million in a four year period. Lawrence also began to follow his childhood passion to be involved in the entertainment field. He promoted New Century by having his company co-produce and bring entertainers from Hong Kong to perform in Toronto. Celebrity Hong Kong performers included: Leon Lai, Sam Hui, Roman Tam, Sally Yeh, Jackie Chan and others.
It was a few years later that Lawrence accidentally met Mr. Wolfe again when Burton Wolfe became the National Director of Productions and Events for the United Nations, UNICEF; Lawrence began to co-produce theatrical shows with Burton. For the past fifteen years, Mr. Wolfe and Mr. Wong have remained theatre entrepreneurial partners, co-producing musical theatre, dramatic and comedy productions, children's' theatre, opera, ballet, pop music and classical concerts, as well as Cultural Exchanges and International Festivals.
Lawrence Wong's Theater and Special Event experience has included: Director of Operations for Houston's "EXPRESS THEATRE" where he created systems of marketing, advertising, logistics and operations; Lawrence was Director of Logistics for Worldwide Stage Inc. and the Houston Parks and Recreation Department's joint production of the "American Youth Games." Mr. Wong was Associate Producer of the "Chinese Film Festival" in Houston.... He was Director of Logistics and overall Operations for the "Legend of Yin & Yang" Acrobatic Musical as well as Cultural Exchanges between China and America. He was Associate Producer of the Shaolin Temple Martial Arts tour to Las Vegas and other American Cities - along with other productions and events.
Lawrence Wong believes that theatre and international cultural exchanges can promote increased trade and commerce, leading to global well being.
